hmm I can't say I agree with this one, I like the part about not ending up with ifs and buts and not living in the past or letting things drag you down but the second line bothers me a bit.
If you hide your feelings they fester and grow
leading you to darkness and spreading it 'round
I wont do it, because I can only reap what I sow
Poems are written to be open to interpretation, you can't just come along and and think that you're the Simon Cowell of poetry...Seriously dude.
The second line which you don't like and took it upon yourself to change it all for me means in my interpretation that you try not to show your feelings so it doesn't show so you can stay strong.
Didn't mean to hide them completely and ignore them.
Poetry is from the heart, it's what someone is feeling at that particular moment and that's how the words come.
If you read through my poems you'll notice they can mean many things, letting go could mean letting go of anything and also a metaphor for something else.
There is no right or wrong way to do poetry if it's from the heart
